Call for Papers – Science Diplomacy Forum: Pathways for Cooperation in Times of Crisis

We are pleased to invite paper proposals for the Science Diplomacy Forum, taking place 5–7 November 2025 at Yeditepe University, Istanbul (Hybrid format).

This international forum, organized under the TÜBİTAK–Bosphorus Project “Science Diplomacy in France and Turkey: A New Prospect for Cooperation” will bring together scholars, policymakers, diplomats, and early-career researchers to explore the role of science diplomacy in times of crisis.

 

Selected papers will be considered for inclusion in a special issue of a high-quality journal.

Key Themes include:
●      Comparative approaches to science diplomacy (France, Türkiye, U.S., China, etc.)
●      The role of scientific cooperation in conflict resolution and peacebuilding
●      Science diplomacy in climate, health, and space
●      Institutional actors in science diplomacy (ministries, academies, research councils)
●      Science–policy interfaces and epistemic communities
●      Science diplomacy in international/regional organizations (EU, UNESCO, etc.)
●      Theoretical and methodological approaches to science diplomacy
●      Science diplomacy in emerging technologies (AI, big data, energy transition)
●      Challenges and opportunities for science diplomacy in the Global South
●      Gender, diversity, and inclusivity in science diplomacy
●      Science diplomacy and “other diplomacies” (tech diplomacy, digital diplomacy, knowledge diplomacy, data diplomacy, disaster diplomacy etc.)
●      Historical trajectories and conceptual debates on science diplomacy
●      Elements and challenges of fieldwork research on science diplomacy

Submission Guidelines:
Abstract: 300–400 words (in English)
Short bio: max. 150 words
Deadline: 15 October 2025
Notification of acceptance: 25 October 2025
